Death of Retired NRPS Officer (Sgt) Larry Hughey

Joseph Larry Patrick Hughey (Sept. 17, 1937 -Mar. 21: 2024):
Larry died at his home in Pickering after a brief illness.
He is survived by his wife Lila Hughey (Willumeit), his son Patrick Hughey and wife Linda Hughey, daughter Lynn Hughey and her husband James Engelbert, and his grand-daughter Jessica Adam. Larry was born in Crowland to Robert Hughey and Mary Hughey and had one brother Bob Hughey and sister-in-law Luella Hughey who are deceased. Larry enlisted in the RCMP when he was 19 and trained in Prince Rupert, B.C. While stationed at Smithers B.C. he met and married Lila. They moved back to Ontario and Larry joined the Crowland Police Force which became the Niagara Regional Police Force. He was a Mason, and a Grand Master, and also a Shriner. He worked as the Court Defender in Welland and then as a Sergeant stationed in Fort Erie before his retirement. He is very greatly missed every day and we can only suffer the loss of his wonderful presence, but we know he is relieved of his suffering. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society are welcome.
