Death of Retired NRPS Officer – (Cst) Paul Julian

It is with profound sadness that the family of Paul Julian announce his peaceful passing on January 13, at the age of 80 years.

Paul will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 50 years, Christine. He was a cherished father to Karen (John Sabatini) and a beloved papa to his grandsons, Lucas, Jayden and Remy, whom he adored beyond measure.

Also mourning his loss are his siblings, Bill Julian (Sylvianne), Richard (Kit) Julian, Donald Julian, Nancy (John) Bonell, and Betty Julian (Pete). Paul was a dear brother-in-law to Josie and Byron Massard and Alan and Becky Coyne, and will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, extended family and countless friends. Paul was predeceased by his parents, and his brothers, John and Stuart Julian.

Born in St. Catharines, and raised in Fenwick, Paul was proud of his roots and deeply connected to his community. He dedicated 30 years of service as a respected member of the Niagara Regional Police Service, forming lifelong friendships and touching many lives throughout the region.

Retirement never slowed Paul down, in fact, he may have been even more active. After retiring, he worked in property management and maintenance for local businesses and continued to help others whenever he could. Paul was always “the guy who had a tool for that” and never hesitated to show up and fix what needed fixing. Friends and neighbours knew he would always be right there, ready to help. He was well known at Home Hardware thanks to his weekly, and sometimes daily, visits and seemed to know just about everyone through his years of involvement all over the city.

A true outdoorsman at heart, Paul found great joy in hunting and fishing, as well as cheering on his grandsons at their hockey and soccer games. He was a man of routine and simple pleasures and could be found each evening at Tim Hortons, enjoying coffee with his cherished coffee buddies.

Friends and family are invited to attend Pleasantview Funeral Home (2000 Merrittville Hwy., Thorold) on Friday, January 23, for a visitation from 12 p.m., to 1 p.m., followed by a chapel service and reception.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation in Paul’s memory. You are invited to share valued memories and condolences online at www.pleasantviewcemetery.ca
