NRPA Request – Re:Bill 175

We need your help to make sure that the concerns raised by police professionals relating to Bill 175 are corrected.

To do this, your Safer Member Advocacy Committee (“SMAC”) needs the members to take action now. In order to ensure that SMAC is able to provide a wholesome briefing to the entire membership on this very important issue we are providing you with the following a link to a video message from President Priest: https://vimeo.com/257189535 or go to the NRPA website at www.nrpa.on.ca and log in to view the video under “current member news”

Please take the time to watch the video message. It sets out issues you need to know and explains the PAO’s SaferOntarioAction campaign and new “keepontariosafe” website.

The website, found at  www.keepontariosafe.ca ,includes pages where you, and your friends, family and the public can learn more about Bill 175. You are urged to check out the webpage and support police services personnel in Ontario by clicking on a quick and easy message that e-mails the Premier directly. It will take only a small moment of your time.

Bill 175 threatens the profession of policing and public safety – it will impact you, your career and your ability to provide effective policing – if it is passed into law as currently drafted. The membership cannot afford to be apathetic on this issue and will absolutely need to respond. SMAC can only guide the conversation – you need to make the statement.
