McCART, David ‘Dave’ Passed away peacefully at his home with his loving family by his side, on the morning of Monday, February 7, 2022, at the age of 86. He is now reunited with his wife of 60 years, “the love of his life”, Betty (2019).
Dearly loved father of David (Maureen), Colleen (Bryan), and Shawn (Rose Ann). Cherished grandfather of Kristen (Rick), Sarah (Lucas), and Joshua (Sydney). Special great-grandfather to Magenta, Melena, Zeke, Isabella, and Luca. Dear brother of Bill. Predeceased by his parents William and Elizabeth, and his sisters Violet and Peggy. He will be sadly missed by his many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Dave, who grew up in Guelph, Ontario began his policing career with the Welland Police Department in 1957, until retiring as a Constable with the Niagara Regional Police Force in 1987. He was a founding member of the Niagara Regional Police Pipe Band.
After retiring, he worked part-time as a shuttle driver for David Chevrolet in Welland. He also worked as an Usher and Security representative with The Welland Pirates and The St. Catharines Stompers Baseball Teams. He was the life of the party and an avid lover of music, sports and animals. Most importantly, he was a people person who cherished every new friendship that he developed.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jennifer Mueller, as well as Paramed nurses Colleen and Jocelyne, for the compassion and support they showed Dave over the past few weeks. The family will receive relatives and friends at the H.L. Cudney Funeral Home, 241 West Main Street, Welland, on Tuesday, February 15 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at Wesley United Church, 244 First Avenue, Welland on Wednesday, February 16 at 11:00 a.m. COVID-19 protocols will be in place, along with proof of vaccination required for attendance.
The service will also be live streamed and family and friends, who are unable to attend, are invited to watch the service on the Wesley United Church Welland, YouTube Channel. The video will go live 10 minutes prior to service time and will remain on the channel for future viewing. Interment will follow at the Pleasantview Cemetery.
