Death of Retired NRPS Member (Civilian) – Myrna Lorraine

LORRAINE, Myrna Passed peacefully on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 (in her 91st year). Predeceased by her husband Merrill and son Rick. Loving mother of Sherri Loucks (Rick). Adored Nana to Jason (Chrissy), Corey and Dayna (Norm). Her four great-grandchildren always brought a smile to her face. Myrna’s sense of humour and loving nature will be missed by all. Many thanks to the caring staff at Garden City Manor. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or service.

Mrs. Lorraine was a Civilian Service member who commenced her career with the Niagara Regional Police Service in 1980. Mrs. Lorraine worked her entire career at the #1 District front desk before her retirement in 1993.

NRPA -FYI – Notification of a Death in a Retired Member’s Family

(We) regretfully announce the passing of Mrs. Marilyn Jean Clarkson in her 78th year, who passed away last night (Friday, May 17th) in hospital with family by her side.  Mrs. Clarkson is the wife to retired Inspector Robert (Bob) Clarkson and the mother to Staff Sergeant Shawn Clarkson of the Special Investigative Services Unit.

Visitation will take place at J.J. Patterson and Sons Funeral Home located at 19 Young Street, Welland on Thursday May 23rd, 2019 from 2pm to 4pm and again from 6pm to 8pm.  A funeral mass will take place at St Mary Roman Catholic Church located at 90 Griffith Street, Welland on Friday May 24th, 2019 at 9:30am, followed by internment at Pleasantview Cemetery located at 2250 Highway 20, Fonthill.

Death of PPAN Member (Retired S/Supt) Dave Gittings

On behalf of Chief Bryan MacCulloch and the Niagara Regional Police Service, we regretfully announce the passing of retired Staff Superintendent David Blinn Gittings in his 86th year. Staff Superintendent Gittings passed away early this morning after a lengthy illness. Staff Superintendent Gittings was a Police Officer for nearly 40 years commencing his career with the City of St Catharines Police Force in 1955. He continued his career with the Niagara Regional Police Service after amalgamation in 1971. He worked to some extent or other in almost every facet of policing and eventually rose to the rank of Staff Superintendent. After a distinguished career, he retired from the Niagara Regional Police Service in 1994.

Visitation will occur at the George Darte Funeral Home located at 585 Carlton Street, St Catharines on Thursday May 9th, 2019 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm.

A Funeral Service will occur at the Mountainview United Church located at 150 Glendale Avenue, St Catharines on Friday May 10th, 2019 at 12 noon.

If so desired, memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
