Ladies and Gentlemen,
Yesterday we all learned that the Ontario plan to eliminate OHIP Out-of-Country Travellers Program. Our President Paul Bailey has asked for our members to be notified that the PPAO is monitoring the situation.
If you travel outside of Canada you will appreciate the implications of the loss of the reimbursement program and the potential for increases in premiums for out of country insurance coverage. We have only until Tuesday, 30th April 2019 to provide comments. Here is a link to the actual Proposed Amendment on the Ontario Government web site; https://www.ontariocanada.com/registry/view.do?postingId=29390&language=en At the bottom of the page is the ability to file comments directly to the Government.
Please note that this amendment currently affects out-of-country travel not travel between Provinces.
If you agree that this amendment should be challenged please send your comments to your local MPP, Premier Doug Ford (doug.ford@pc.ola.org) and Minister of Health Christine Elliott (christine.elliott@pc.ola.org) and please copy the PPAO at ppao@ppao.ca
Thank you for your attention to this issue. The PPAO will continue to monitor the issue.
